Because an apparel manufacturer has to face a variety of issues when running the business, he not only has to have great entrepreneurial skills but also a thorough understanding of the industry. For example, one of the issues that apparel manufacturers face is the high cost of local labor, forcing many to outsource production. At the same time competition with global players is intense. Add to that is the constantly changing trend in textile manufacture and of course, fashion. So, before embarking into this business, one has to thoroughly think about the many aspects of the business.

Types of Apparel Manufacturing Business

What kind of garments would you produce and for what age bracket? Teens, men and women (large or all sizes?), couture clothes, baby outfits, sports clothes? For sports clothes, will it be for bikers, golfers, swimmers? At what price category will your products be? And will it be a full product line or just tops or bottoms or coordinates? How will you distribute your products? Will it be through boutiques, discount stores, or department stores? The answer to these questions will aid you in determining the quality, quantity and cost of the clothes you make. Make your research of the industry by talking to garment plant owners, trade groups, retailers, regulatory agencies, customers, boutique owners, and textile suppliers.

Apparel Manufacturing Facility

Granting that you plan to produce in-house, you should consider where your production will be. In line with this, you should think where your supplies of cloth. will be coming from and where will you supply your finished product. Are your source and market proximate enough in that you won’t incur high transportation costs? And how would your production facility look like, how big will it be, how much would it cost? How will you finance it? Whether you will rent a property or build from scratch, you would need to secure licenses both when starting and running the business. You should also think about the equipment you need for making pattern, designs, sewing and cutting. And where will you rent or buy them? Another important consideration you should think about is labor. Are there skilled employees that you can hire around, or do you need to train people?

Starting a Small Apparel Manufacturing Business

If you don’t have the resources for a full-scale garment manufacturing business, you can start small by selling your clothes in flea markets, in your store, in community fairs and bazaars. You can also sell hand-painted shirts. You can make tailor-made hand-painted shirts that you can sell at higher prices.

A snail’s flesh is cooked and eaten as food and its shell is used as material for accessories and decorative items. Snails in manageable quantities may also be used to kill harmful insects in the farm.

Make a suitable breeding place for the snail. The size should be suited for your purpose – whether you are growing it for personal consumption or for re-sale to others. You can use a covered box if you are breeding in small scale. For larger population, you can dug a trench or make a concrete pen and cover it with screen or wire all around to prevent the snails from escaping. Remember that snails can reproduce fast and become pests when their breeding is uncontrolled. Also, the wire is useful in keeping away rats and snakes or other predators from eating the snails. But aside from these bigger predators, also be wary about smaller ones like ants and termites.
Put moist, loamy soil in the breeding area. Put litters or leaves to serve as shelter for the snails. Snails love dark and cold places. Make sure the humidity does not drop to levels harmful to the snails. You can use cloth that is regularly wet to regulate the temperature.
Decide on the size of your stock. Would you like to start from hatchlings or from pre-adult snails?
Put stock snails in breeding area. Different snails are bred in different areas of the world. Be sure, especially if you are breeding commercially, that what you rear is the kind that sells on the market. Edible snails that grow in cold regions are the Helix aspersa and Helix pommatia. Those that are popular in tropical areas are the Achatina fulica, Achatina achatina and Archachatina marginata. Obtain a stock from other local breeder, otherwise you have to import it.
Observe the proper stocking density for the area you have and for the size of snails you are growing.
Feed snails leaves, fruits, or even formula from the feed store. Aside from food to grow tissues, snails need calcium to grow shells.
Once they start growing, separate the big ones from the small ones. It takes more than a year for the Achatina types to grow to harvest size. Others mature in two years.

Bone meal = 34%
Soybeans = 25%
wheat = 40%
vitamin = 1%(premix) – improvise with broiler or layer premix
There are though more effective feed formula for snails but they sophisticated for beginners. similarly dried grounded feeds such as the above involves little money they give better results than fresh forages. Also when serving dried feed water should be supplied in flat water trough. One should also note that percentage as mentioned above is a ratio depending on the amount of feed to be produced. For example 34% Calcium(bone meal) as mentioned above means 34/100X2=0.68g
