Business Scalable, Saleable and Sustainable

[siteorigin_widget class="SiteOrigin_Widget_Headline_Widget"][/siteorigin_widget]
What does it mean to be scalable?

Various meanings in the business world.  Mostly means that your business can increase and expand efficiently when the demand becomes greater.  If you got all the business you wanted to have, could you handle it?  How easy would it be to take on 50% more customers right now?  If you are still contemplating that thought, your business needs scaling.

If I want to scale where do I start?

I always tell my clients to think about where they want to be in 5 years and plan for that.  What do you need to have in place to make that 5-year goal work today?  Planning is key!  What systems do you need in place to handle increased volume?  Do you need more employees?  Do you need better cash flow?  What funds do you need to make that happen?  The answers to these questions will help you know what you need to plan for. Once you have that, you are ready to implement.

How do you implement?

I knew you would ask that!  It all starts with you!  You need to focus on growth and that does not simply mean more marketing.  Grow your partnerships and connections.  You will need more vendors or better vendors.  You will need to increase your distribution partners and channels.  Start educating yourself on things that affect your market and how others in your industry work.  You also need to start standardizing processes.  It will take a lot of trial and error, but once you find something that works well, you should see an increase in efficiency.

How can I compete with those bigger companies?

It is not about competing, it’s about the best you can where you are.  That means you must know what you are the best at.  Understand what is your company’s strength and how can you increase that area.  It also means you should look at your weaknesses.  You need to know what keeps your business at the level that it is on.  Most small business owners say money, but most likely it is something else.  It is rarely the lack of financial ability that kills a business.  The majority of time, it is the lack of management skills.

Why should my business be saleable?

Many business owners don’t think about what will happen to their business when they are ready to retire or just wanted to leave the business altogether.  The financial documents are not in place; tax returns reflect little or no income and the bank account is constantly in the red.  If you think you may want to sell your business one day or even have investors, you need to make sure it is positioned correctly.

If I want to sell my business, what should I think about?

Naturally, there are lots of things to think about.  I think one of the most important things is structure and organization. What type of entity do you have?  If you have a corporation or LLC you can sell the business intact as a whole. If you have a partnership or sole proprietorship likely going to have to do an asset sale.  These are very different types of sales that can make a major difference in the amount of money that you receive for your business.  In addition, you want to think about your employees and their ability to run the business without you.  If the success of the business only depends upon you, the business may be less valuable.

What advise can you give when someone approaches them about selling their business, but the offer was too low?

May I give the cautionary tale of Pebble.  If you don’t know, Pebble was a tech company first of its kind with the revolutionary watch which synced to your phone, tracked your life style and allowed you to do all kinds of things from your wrist.  Its chart-topping Kickstarter campaign is what put crowdfunding on the map.  Over the years, many companies tried to acquire it and were rejected.  Last year, Pebble closed its offices with barely a blip in the newspapers.  No one cared because the technology had been usurped and the business could not keep with bigger named brands i.e. Apple.  This is not to say that every offer you get is the best offer you will ever get.  But don’t over value your business because you think it is worth more than it really is.

What if I don’t want to sell my business?

If you don’t want to sell, what is your plan?  Do you expect to just close it when you retire?  If you haven’t thought about that, it is okay.  However, this is an important part of doing business.  Making your business saleable adds value to your business.  I always try to encourage business owners to think past, right now.  You may not want to sell your business right now, but you may have to at some point.  Even if you don’t sell the business itself, there should be assets that are worth selling that can yield substantial income.  If you pass away without considering these issues, how will your heirs deal with your business?  Don’t assume that they want to take over, especially if they have never been trained or made a part of the business.

What does it mean to have a sustainable business?

I always say it is easy to start a business, but it is difficult to sustain one.  Sustaining does not mean just existing for a long period of time.  There are many businesses that can survive even with minimal profits.  They typically limp along doing whatever it can to survive.  That is not sustaining.  Sustainable means that it can function without a constant influx of cash from outside sources.  In other words, it should pay for itself.  It also needs to be forward-thinking and ready for future changes in the market.

I have had a business for a long time and I want to expand.  Does that mean I have a sustainable business?

Not necessarily.  There are many businesses who have scaled but have been unable to sustain the growth.  It’s about planning (as everything is).  You must be aware of the inside and outside forces that affect your business.  A SWOT analysis helps with giving you a better understanding of those forces.  Your business and yourself, should be able to deal with change and make the necessary steps to continue doing business.  Being able to adapt is more important than growth when we are discussing sustainability.  With your growth, can you still adapt to the changes in the market?

With all the changes happening in business, how can one keep up?

It is all about value.  In the end, that is what it comes down to.  Businesses change their models all the time.  Companies like IBM have managed to stay in business despite the rapid changes in technology.  However, many others have gone by the wayside.  Your business may not look the same today as it did yesterday. The question is, are your offerings valuable to enough people?  You have to be innovative and prepared to excel in a particular area.  You do not have to be and should not be everything to everyone.  Do something well enough that you can continue to do it well, even when the market changes.

This is a lot to handle, is there any simple way to deal with this?

Yes!  First, you just need to start the process.  I always tell my clients to start thinking about what makes their company work well and what makes it difficult to run.  List the good the bad and the ugly.  From there you want to see what you can do better.  Of the things you do well, what you be exceptional at?  For the things that are challenging, what can you do to make them less challenging?  For each thing you write down, determine what resources you must improve.  What is keeping you from improving?  These things go into being thoughtful about your business and helping you to make better decisions.  To have a sustainable business, you have to be on top of your game!

Door To Door Marketing

Face to Face Marketing and Door to Door Marketing

Nothing beats the reality that one gets when you can interact with potential clients face to face physically moving from door to door within a community or household to household, face to face field marketing is also called personal selling or door to door marketing, customers are met directly in order to sell their products, using this method of field marketing we rely on our skills and persuasive abilities. During the period where we get to interact with the client face to face we get more chance to pass across edible information which would be useful to all our customers at that time and it’s also an opportunity for us to get feedback and to gauge your opinion about our business.

Door to Door marketing and Face to Face marketing is a more effective traditional form of marketing, it’s one of the oldest forms of marketing and we use promotion as a means to drive sales to your company or business. There’s nothing more exhilarating than getting to interact with potential customers through face to face marketing and over the years customers are aware and very receptive to this marketing approach through supermarkets and public business places.

The benefit of this type of field marketing is that it can be done on a low budget, it is very cost effective and reaches a larger number of people per within a very short duration, in this short period of time where you have just a few minutes to convince the customers to take interest in your business, just a few minutes to build personal relations through five stages. By attention, interest, desire, conviction and action.  And what else do you benefit by using face to face marketing service?

It gives you the chance to build a certain level of confidence and trust with the customers, you get to break down communication barrier of communication and it gives you the opportunity to show clarity and answer any questions on the mind of the customers.

Door-to-door marketing is a canvassing technique that is generally used for sales, marketing, advertising, or campaigning, in which the person or persons walk from the door of one house to the door of another, trying to sell or advertise a product or service to the general public or gather information. People who use this sales approach are often called traveling salesmen, or the archaic name drummer, to “drum up” business. This technique is also sometimes called direct sales. A variant of this involves cold calling first, when another sales representative attempts to gain agreement that a salesperson should visit.

With the realization of telephone “Do Not Call” lists it is becoming increasingly more difficult to connect with consumers and business people. An emerging trend is the deployment of very professional, highly skilled door-to-door canvassers to drive product sales and brand awareness.

Coordinating, training and motivating these teams to produce results are at the very core of Fulcrum’s proven capabilities. Fulcrum has the knowledge and experience required to implement these programs, such as best days and times to canvass, who will sell the most product; male, female, young or mature and what geographics and demographics respond best to door-to-door marketing. Put Fulcrum’s experience to work for you and avoid the costly mistakes of trying to manage these programs in-house.

Hire and Train Door-to-Door Marketing Team

If you’re in charge of hiring people, that typically means that you’ve found success in Door To Door Marketing yourself. You know what it takes to be great, but now you’re stuck with an entirely new problem. How do you find others who will be just as good (if not better) and will stick around and grow into important influencers invested in the long term growth of the company? A great D2D sales company is a great recruiting company. So what does that greatness look like?

First off, you need to realize that you’re not going to hire a superstar every time. If you think you have found one, be careful. It’s not hard for someone to seem golden during one interview and you don’t want to be fooled.

Even if you think the candidate does have a lot of great experience working in the field for other companies, you have to realize that success doesn’t always translate. What worked for them at previous companies probably won’t work as well for you. In fact, their success will probably make them stubborn; after all, what reason do they have to follow your approach when they’ve figured out their own?

It’s also possible that the rep’s previous company might have had much better-developed training and selling systems than you do, and that system was the key reason they killed it. If you’re not developing a competitive system, what does that communicate about your company? The more dialed-in you are about a rep’s success, the more likely you are to attract and keep strong performers.

Another reason you might need field marketing is to ensure your budget has been well spent. After investing into a large scale in-store promotion campaign you want to ensure that it is implemented to the standard agreed with the retailer. Data can be collected by auditing teams and analysed to see if the money had been well spent. Furthermore it also gives opportunity for future campaigns to implemented with higher efficiency and success.

Family values and shopping within the Hispanic community

[siteorigin_widget class="SiteOrigin_Widget_Headline_Widget"][/siteorigin_widget]

The family that spends Thanksgiving dinner together goes Black Friday shopping together.

Recent findings of a study examining the Black Friday shopping habits of multicultural consumers show that non-white ethnicities, especially members of the Hispanic and Latino population, spend more money the day after Thanksgiving shopping for sales than Caucasian consumers and treat Black Friday as an extension of the holiday, shopping together on Thanksgiving day, as well as the day after.

The study from global shopper marketing agency Geometry revealed that multicultural shoppers, including Hispanic, Asian and African-Americans, spend 30% more money on Black Friday than Caucasians. In 2014, Hispanics and Asian Americans spent an average of $300; African-Americans, around $350; and Caucasians, just $250 on Black Friday, the study reported.

Multicultural shoppers, especially Hispanics and African-Americans, don’t plan their Black Friday purchases in advance. The study showed 41% of Caucasians made lists of items they wanted to purchase on Black Friday last year, compared to 32% of Hispanics and 28% of African-Americans.

Hispanics are more spontaneous shoppers than other cultural groups, explained John Burn, cross-cultural shopper marketing practice lead at Geometry Global, and are more “about living in the moment” when shopping. If they do plan, he said, at most it would be a day or two in advance, compared to Caucasians who could spend weeks planning their Black Friday purchases.

The multicultural consumer views Black Friday as an extension of the Thanksgiving holiday, the study found, with 50% of participants reporting that they go shopping on both Thanksgiving Day and Black Friday. The study, conducted two months ago, surveyed 606 people who have some responsibility over the household shopping to “understand how different ethnic groups shopped, where the commonalities and differences converged,” said Burn. The groups were nearly evenly represented, with 149 Hispanics, 156 African-Americans, 156 Asian-Americans, and 150 non-Hispanic white or Caucasians participating in the study.

Thanksgiving is a big celebration with friends and family, immediate and extended, and the Hispanic consumer’s desire to spend more time together during the holiday extends the family time to shopping on Black Friday, observed Burn and other multicultural marketing experts. Black Friday becomes an outing for the entire family, and they will spend the entire day shopping at big retailers like Toys “R” Us, Macy’s and Best Buy, said Daniel Ocner, director of strategic marketing and development at MediaMorphosis in Long Island City, N.Y.

“There’s no hesitation to go out shop on Black Friday because everyone just spent the entire day together,” added Manny Rodriguez, director of client services at CultureSpan Marketing in El Paso, Texas.”It’s not just a dinner thing, it’s a whole day family thing.”

Since they don’t make an exact list of items they want to buy on Black Friday, Hispanic customers tend to stay in shops longer to peruse other items they may want to purchase, Geometry Global’s Burn said. “Hispanics are more spontaneous in terms of planning, and once they’re in the store, they are more open to discovery, to browse the store and see what’s in there,” he said, so retailers should highlight their biggest deals with banners and posters in store.

The biggest items purchased on Black Friday by members the Hispanic community are electronics, especially tablets, smartphones, and televisions, the study found. They keep an eye out for the biggest discounts on items that would normally be too expensive for them to buy any other time of the year, Burn said.

Considering the increasing influence of the Hispanic population, brand marketers and retailers need to be savvy about how they market to Hispanics, stressed multicultural experts.”Brands should target them based on their culture and do something that would culturally resonate with them,” said Fernando Fernandez, partner and chief client officer at d expósito & Partners, New York. The Hispanic population, at about 55 million people, is the fastest-growing ethnic group in the U.S., making up about 17% of the population, according to the U.S. Census Bureau. The government agency projects that the Hispanic population will grow to nearly 130 million by 2060 and will represent 31% of the US population.

marketing Outsourcing firm in King's Circle

ABOUT FIELD MARKETING

WHAT IS FIELD MARKETING? Field marketing and marketing Outsourcing firm in King’s Circle is becoming more popular for companies in various industries. From food and beverage to consumer goods. It’s a tool that can be used to showcase latest products or services in a face to face environment with consumers. Furthermore companies recognise the importance of having brand ambassadors and reps on the ‘front line’ introducing the public to new innovations or delicious treats. This is done in the ‘field’; around shopping centers and in retail hot spots, expos and events, university campus’ and sport stadiums to name a few. Most campaign activities focus on customer facing roles including product demonstrations, direct selling and street training teams. However not all field marketing is consumer facing such as auditing and merchandising. Goals and outcomes of field marketing will differ from company to company. Some campaigns are designed to increase brand awareness or sales. While others may be to collect data and feedback about the product and its market. At Splatter we have all the tools necessary for the clients desired outcome to be achieved WHAT A FIELD MARKETING TEAM LOOKS LIKE. For successful field marketing campaigns companies might have dedicated teams within their business whose task it is to be creative and manage field marketing initiatives. However agencies are also on hand to support a campaign. By offering staff, management and infrastructure the client can focus on the more creative aspect of the campaign. A field marketing agency and  marketing Outsourcing firm in King’s Circle tends to work in territories operating with reps within their own regions. Often overlooked by regional or national managers depending on the scale of the team. Although territory management is more important for wide scale national distributing business, smaller brands are recognising the importance of managing promotions on a more local scale using teams to promote, audit and sell in their regions.

WHAT CAN FIELD MARKETING DO FOR YOUR BUSINESS?

1. PRODUCT DEMONSTRATIONS

As mentioned already, demo days are a popular tool of field marketing. These campaigns can stretch from as little as one week to 6 months however some are continuous and full time. For consumer goods this would mean having brand representatives in retail stores and around shopping centers, events or road shows. Finally The Brand Ambassadors are engaging with the consumer and showing them how the product or service works. This is important as it allows a potential buyer to get hands on experience and a feel of ownership of the product; most importantly the rep is also on hand to answers any questions the customer may have. Although a sell is great the main aim of a demo campaign is brand awareness. Food and beverage take a slightly differently approach. By handing out free samples and one off deals of their product around retail and events, consumers are getting a taste of the brands latest delicious treats and at the same time everyone loves free food! Sampling is a fun activation and is effective when bringing new products to the high street. Marketing Training Learn more about product demonstrations by checking out our in depth guide here.

2. DIRECT SELLING

Much like product demonstrations these campaigns have brand reps or ambassadors at the center of them. The difference is it’s more about the selling of the product. Sales rep might have targets to adhere to. Finally these campaigns are super effective during peak times when the difference in a sale or not can be having a knowledgeable brand rep in store. Product Demonstrations Learn more about what direct selling is in our guide here.

3. RETAIL AUDITS AND MERCHANDISING

Auditing takes the reps out off the front line and away from the consumer. Auditing teams are used by marketers to monitor traditional marketing strategies that they put in place across retail. Most of all audits ensure that the brand is represented as it should be on shelves and around retail hot spots. Examples are; checking POS is as it should be across the territories, promotions advertised and running and paid spaces such as gondolas are set up. The data collected from the teams can be useful for the marketers to negotiate better future deals. In addition it also allows for mistakes to be rectified there and then by the reps. Splatter offer a live system that can be monitored by the client in real team meaning that red flags in the field can be dealt with instantaneously .Store Audits and Merchandising To learn more about Audits and merchandising view our guide here.

4. GUERRILLA MARKETING

When it comes to guerrilla marketing the gloves are off. They are usually low budget campaigns but with the right imagination and ideas they offer up some unprecedented results. Furthermore the term ‘Guerrilla Marketing’ itself is used to refer to campaigns that surprise consumers in locations and ways they might not usually expect. For that reason the experience remains with the consumer.

Business Should I Start

[siteorigin_widget class="SiteOrigin_Widget_Headline_Widget"][/siteorigin_widget]

As a small business coach, not a week goes by that someone doesn’t say, “I need your help, I know I am meant to start a business, but I don’t know what kind of business I should start”.  Now, I specialize in helping people map out a plan once they decide to start a business, but I decided to develop a system to help people get clear about their business prospects.

Some entrepreneurs are born; they are the types that just can’t work for other people.  Some entrepreneurs are made through years of working soul-sapping jobs, and finally one day they know they can make more money working for themselves.  Some grow up in a family business and it just falls into their lap or they are strong armed into it by their parents.  Others are forced into business ownership after months of frustration looking for a job after getting laid off.  Regardless of how you make your decision to join the ranks of the self-employed the next question is – what business should you start?

There are many paths, but it really boils down to four options: a) Start a business organically from scratch b) Buy an existing business c) Buy a franchise d) Create an internet business

If you want to start a business organically, you will need to develop your business idea and be clear that you have viable market.  In other words, you need to be clear about who is buying and why, to see if you can identify the right business for you.

5 ways to find a business idea What are 5 things you are passionate about?
  1. What is item you feel strongest about?
  2. Can you develop 10 ways to produce, promote and sell this as a business?  (If you are selling a retail product or a manufacturing business concept select your top product from the list)
  3. Make a list of 10 action steps to move forward with developing your product.
  4. If you are selling professional services or an online business, make a list of 10 action steps you can take to move forward with your business.

This basic system will help you get clear about whether an interest or hobby can be turned into a business. Let’s break down the steps using my coaching business as an example. This is a professional service business.

  Step 1.  Five Passions
  • singing
  • love nurturing others in business
  • products for toddler children
  • power networking
  • writing

While many think that door to door marketing is getting neglected in this very era it still yields more results especially during startups of businesses, think about it. Other forms of marketing get lower results, emails get spammed, adverts go unnoticed and phone calls go unanswered so why not just take your business directly to them. It’s only through personal interaction that you get the chance to connect with the customer, you would be selling more than a product.

You would be selling your zeal, emotions and passion

We offer a wide range of marketing services to business of different functions in India, startup businesses are not left out and we cut across all methods of marketing services, with Door to Door marketing service we assist you our clients with reaching your target customers, our services which extends to all parts of India and we target customers who are ready to change their local services to yours. We can assure you that our face to face methods would be conducted with high regards to personal safety and very good competence.

[siteorigin_widget class="SiteOrigin_Widget_Image_Widget"][/siteorigin_widget]

Family values and shopping within the Hispanic community

[siteorigin_widget class="SiteOrigin_Widget_Headline_Widget"][/siteorigin_widget]

The family that spends Thanksgiving dinner together goes Black Friday shopping together.

But once you’ve made the decision to embark on a marketing strategy for your business, what next? Where do you start and what steps should you take to ensure a smooth and successful process? As is so often the case in business (and life!), preparation is key. So before rushing into any kind of marketing, it’s important to take the time to plan, research and strategise for success. In order to create an effective marketing strategy, you need to develop a thorough understanding of your market, your competitors and your business itself. This means getting back to basics and equipping yourself with all the information you need to identify marketing activities that work for your brand. 1) Research your target market How much do you know about the target audience of your product or service? We’re not just talking about age, sex or occupation (though, of course, you need to know these too). To have the best chance of reaching your target market, you need to dig deeper and find out exactly what drives them towards purchase. What kind of triggers are they most likely to respond to? Which elements of the marketing mix have the most impact on them? How will your product or service benefit them? Understanding these aspects of your target audience will enable you to position and market your brand accordingly, so comprehensive market research is essential. It’s often easier (and more cost-effective) to outsource this type of research to a professional agency who will be better placed to obtain the information you need. 2) Analyse your competition In order to stay ahead of your competitors, you need to know who they are, what they’re doing and how they’re doing it. Once you’ve identified who your key business competitors are, look into the marketing methods they’re using and the way in which they have positioned their brand. What channels and platforms have they chosen to market their business? How are they promoting their brand and its products/services? Consider which elements are crucial to your own business and how you can position your brand in order to get ahead. 3) Define your objectives What do you want to achieve from your marketing activity? Whether it’s to increase your revenue, establish your business in a new market segment or improve brand awareness, setting clear, measurable marketing objectives is vital in understanding what steps need to be taken in order to achieve these goals. Make sure that each identified objective is specific (how much do you want to increase revenue by?), achievable (is it realistic?) and has a timeframe for accomplishment (are you aiming to achieve this goal in three months or a year?). You also need to make sure that your marketing objectives tie in with your overall business objectives. 4) Understand your business You may think you have a pretty good understanding of your business, but it’s surprising what insights can be achieved when you conduct a thorough SWOT analysis (strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, threats). Be rigorous, be meticulous, and above all be brutally honest. Is a lack of staff training letting your business down? Are your prices too high to compete in today’s market? Arming yourself with this knowledge is invaluable in developing a marketing strategy that leverages your company’s strengths and addresses those areas which need to be improved. In the next instalment of the Fulcrum guide to becoming marketing active, we’ll be looking at the raft of marketing channels available and helping you to identify which ones are best for your business.

  • writing

Develop Marketing Plan Small Business

[siteorigin_widget class="SiteOrigin_Widget_Headline_Widget"][/siteorigin_widget]

How do you get started with a marketing plan for a small business?

First, know your audience or “target market” and understand their needs.Second, position yourself to meet those needs with a solution-oriented marketing plan.Decide on how you’ll connect to customers and begin developing your brand.

What is the best way to learn your audience or “target market”?

You must conduct market research: both primary and secondary research.Primary research is research you do yourself.  It’s a good way to learn more about your specific market. Secondary research is research such as statistics and information from other sources like libraries, Chambers of Commerce, local and federal government publications, etc.  This is best for getting a general overall view of the market or industry you’ll be operating within.

What is the best way to conduct market research?

You can conduct primary research by reaching out to current, former, or even potential customers and asking them pertinent questions about their needs via surveys, focus groups, or in-person interviews.  If your budget allows, you might consider hiring a market research firm who might conduct telephone polls and focus groups. Secondary research (the least expensive of the two) can be conducted by visiting libraries, internet searches on sites of the U.S. Census, Department of Commerce, Bureau of Labor Statistics, Small Business Administration, Chambers of Commerce, and local governments.

Once a business owner knows their target market, and how to meet their needs, what should be the next step in the development of the marketing plan?

Defining your brand and tailoring your products and services to your target audience are the next steps. This includes developing your brand’s vision, mission, and company message in ways that are meaningful to your core audience, and this includes branding your company’s insignia on logos and creating websites. Armed with what you learned from your market research, tailor your product and service offerings catalog to meet the stated needs of your target market.

With a defined brand, targeted market, and products or services ready to sell, how do I put my marketing plan into action steps?

Start by clearly stating your goals (e.g. attracting new customers, retaining old customers, encouraging repeat business).  Prioritize long and short-term goals (set time limits and stick to them). When describing how you plan to achieve your goals.  Be specific; break it down by activity (branding, promotion and sales strategy, email marketing, affiliate marketing, networking, etc.).  Create monthly and weekly sales goals and activities to execute your strategic marketing plan and achieve your revenue goals.

What is the best way to execute my action plan?

Start by reviewing your priorities and the timelines you’ve set, and address each priority in order of importance.

How can I implement a small business marketing plan on a limited budget?

Maximize your dollars spent and look for creative ways to implement marketing steps that don’t cost money (e.g. social media, Search Engine Optimization (SEO), blogging, podcasting, video blogging). When hiring someone for marketing help, use your hourly rate and time saved as the litmus test and price threshold for what you’re willing to pay.  For example, if you charge $100/Hour as a Consultant and you estimate it will take about 10 hours for you to review your customer records, could you find someone to effectively do the work for you for $1000? If so, then it’s definitely worth it to use them, since it will free up your time and you can continue running your business and servicing your customers.

If my number #1 priority is getting new customers, how can I do that?

To attract new customers, you could offer an incentive or free giveaway for them to sign-up for your newsletter (e.g. 10% off first purchase, special report, or free sample.) Then use the newsletter to keep in touch by providing helpful information and informing them on new products and services. Use a blog and/podcast series with topics of interest to your core audience. You could also begin an affiliate marketing program with a complimentary business that refers business in exchange for a commission of sales.

What are some other ways that I can creatively market to my business?

Contact the media to pitch stories about your business or your customers who have been successful using your product or service; Offer to speak for free at local speaking events (e.g. Rotary Clubs, Chambers of Commerce, Women’s groups etc.); Start a community for your core customers on Facebook, LinkedIn or Twitter.

What are some of the big mistakes entrepreneurs make in small business marketing?

Be sure to track marketing efforts.  Make note of where customers learned about you and how they found you. Conduct ongoing primary market research by asking for customer feedback; Use surveys as another marketing tool in your arsenal (e.g. The MiniMarketing Survey).Be sure tooffer customers an incentive to complete surveys (e.g. Free item/service).Use feedback to help shape future marketing efforts.
